How this calculator works
FIRE math is deceptively simple: divide your desired annual spending by your safe withdrawal rate. If you want $60,000/year and use 4%, you need $1,500,000 invested. That's your FIRE number.
What most calculators miss: your savings rate matters far more than your investment return. Doubling your savings rate cuts your working years roughly in half โ you accumulate faster AND you need less because your baseline spending is lower. This tool shows both effects.
